Corporations, Foundations, and Organizations
In fiscal year 2007, corporations, foundations and other organizations contributed over $5.4 million to support students, faculty and programs at Colorado School of Mines.

Of this amount, more than $1.5 million went to providing scholarships and fellowships for Mines students. Corporate matching gifts accounted for almost 8 percent of the total contributions.

Colorado School of Mines is honored to recognize these investors, who through their generosity and philanthropic leadership are shaping the future of the School and the next generation of industry leaders.



Philanthropic Highlights

Following is a sampling of corporate and foundation gifts received between October 1, 2007 and March 31, 2008:

The Adolph Coors Foundation contributed a total of $1,022,000 to support the Student Recreation Center, the William K. Coors Distinguished Chair in Chemical Engineering, and the Herman F. Coors Professorial Chair in Ceramics.

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation
contributed $25,000 to support the Department of Petroleum Engineering.

Apache Corporation
contributed $43,095 to support fellowships in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering.

Aqua-Aerobics Systems, Inc.
contributed $70,000 to support the Advanced Water Technology Center (AQWATEC).

The ARCS (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists) Foundation contributed $45,000 toward scholarships for nine students.

Bonanza Creek Energy Company
contributed $50,000 toward their $100,000 pledge for Marquez Hall.

BP
contributed $250,000 toward their pledge of $750,000 for scholarships and fellowships, and an additional $46,100 for department and student group support and the Minority Engineering Program. 

Chevron
contributed $156,500 to support several departments, programs, student organizations, scholarships, and the Oil Shale Symposium

EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc.
contributed gifts totaling $413,356 toward their $2 million pledge for Marquez Hall and the Oil & Gas Exploration Workshop.

ExxonMobil
contributed $50,000 to support Mines’ outreach to secondary mathematics and science teachers.

The Halliburton Foundation contributed $30,000 to support scholarships and fellowships in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering.

Hess Corporation
contributed a total of $55,000 to support the Petroleum Engineering Department and a graduate fellowship in the Department of Geophysics.

Infiltrator Systems, Inc.
continued their support of research and educational activities in the area of on-site and alternate wastewater technologies with recent gifts totaling $93,000.

Landmark Graphics
contributed $60,000 to support a graduate fellowship in the Department of Geophysics.

The Li Foundation contributed $42,000 for the Li Foundation Fellowships.

Noble Energy Inc.
contributed $125,000 toward their $500,000 pledge to Marquez Hall.

Peabody Energy
gave $25,000 to the Mining Engineering Department.

Questar Corporation
contributed $40,000 toward scholarships.

Robert Bosch LLC
contributed $28,500 to support engineering research. 

Shell Oil Company
contributed $115,000 for departmental support, the Career Center, the Minority Engineering Program, the McBride Honors Program, the Mobile Science Show, student groups and fellowships.

St. Mary Land & Exploration Company
contributed $25,000 toward their endowed scholarship fund for petroleum engineering students and pledged $125,000 toward Marquez Hall.

The Harry Trueblood Foundation contributed $30,000 toward the Harry Trueblood Foundation Scholarship which supports petroleum engineering students.

The United States Steel Foundation contributed $25,000 toward their pledge of $50,000 for scholarships for twenty students in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

The Viola Vestal Coulter Foundation contributed gifts totaling $108,500 toward undergraduate and graduate scholarships and fellowships, the William Jesse Coulter Instructorship in Mineral Economics, the Mineral Economics Professional Development Fund, the Viola Vestal Coulter Instructorship in Mineral Economics, the Coulter Chair in Mineral Economics, and the Mabel M. Coulter Student Health Center.

Whiting Petroleum Corporation
contributed gifts totaling $200,000 toward Marquez Hall and the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering.
